01 — Qué es La Cultur4
A home for Latin American art, built in London.
La Cultur4 is a platform for Latinos in London — a home for Latin American, Afro-Latina and diaspora creativity, built through exhibitions, residencies, workshops and community gatherings. We create the rooms our artists were never invited into — and we keep the door open: entry is free, always.
We work with emerging artists from across the diaspora and the continent — many exhibiting outside their home countries for the first time — and we teach them to value their work. Because being Latino never meant being worth less.
Every project is bilingual by design. Spanish is not a translation here; it is the first language of the room.
02 — La fundadora
Artist, creative director, and the person behind the room.
Karla Quiñonez León is a London-based Afro-Latina artist and creative director, Afro-Ecuadorian by heritage, working across sculpture, styling, installation, and archival imagery — a practice that circles identity, memory, and diasporic narrative from every angle. La Cultur4 grew directly out of that practice: a platform built by an artist, for artists, so that the rooms she once had to fight her way into are open to everyone else, free of charge.
Her work sits at the intersection of art and fashion, and the recognition has followed accordingly — the first Ecuadorian ever nominated for the British Fashion Awards, named one of the British Fashion Council's Top 50 New Wave Creatives in 2024, nominated for the 2025 Latin American Fashion Awards, invited to the Cannes Lions festival by the organisation itself, and asked onto a panel at MoMu, the Fashion Museum Antwerp, to speak on craft, identity and the next generation of creative talent. Her work in hair and makeup has taken her from Gucci, Dior, Calvin Klein, Marc Jacobs Heaven and Louis Vuitton to talent including PinkPantheress, Doechii, and Kelly Rutherford.

Her advocacy isn't only creative. In 2020, she spoke publicly about racism she experienced working at a MAC Cosmetics store in Brussels — an account that led to a public response from the brand and added her voice to a wider industry reckoning on representation and accountability. It's the same throughline that runs into La Cultur4: not waiting to be represented, but building the room herself.
The short film of "Para Ecuador, Con Amor" is available on MUBI, one of over twenty productions she's contributed to — and looking ahead, she's working toward an affordable, Ecuador-sourced hair and skincare line within the next few years.
She also works professionally in hair and makeup — a skill that shows up throughout La Cultur4's exhibitions and campaigns, where beauty is never separate from the story being told.

Sisterhood through the Latin American perspective.
Ten artists from five countries explore what it means to hold and be held by other women — work made from inside those relationships, not observing them from outside. Presented with Firepit Gallery CIC.

Our first group exhibition: 15 Latin American artists exploring identity, home, and belonging — celebrating our Latin America with pride. Hosted at Firepit Gallery, London. Everyone was welcome. Mi casa es tu casa.

Two editions of our International Women's Day night at Firepit Gallery — karaoke, bingo and drinks, with donations going to a charity supporting women affected by domestic violence.

Exhibitions
From “Para Ecuador, Con Amor” to “Mi Casa, Tu Casa” and “Las Ñañas” — free-entry group exhibitions that bring Latin American artists to London walls, and London audiences to Latin American stories.
Residency
One month of free studio space in London for an emerging Latin American artist, closing with a two-week solo exhibition. All disciplines welcome.
Workshops
Over six workshops in the past year — from craft and collage to movement with Siobhan Davies Studios. Our kids' workshops (Para Ecuador, Con Amor, 2024 & 2025) welcome children of every background and belief, always with painting, play, and a surprise guest mascot.
Personal projects
An ongoing photographic love letter to ancestry, heritage and visibility — lace, flowers, and the faces of the diaspora, shot in London.
Networking
Networking evenings for Latin American creatives — everyone is welcome to come exchange ideas, share work and connect. Two editions hosted so far, more on the way.
